easter festivities

we had a great Easter this year. We hosted it at Casa Medina with an early dinner on the back patio and an egg hunt. it got a little could and dreary, so we couldn't stay outside too long. i meant to get pictures of all the festivities, but i was busy socializing, playing, hosting, and such.

Janica snapped a couple pictures during the egg hunt:

allyson made out like a bandit! :)

emily did pretty well, herself, too!

she was pretty proud of her eggs!

the Easter Bunny may have gone a little overboard with the eggs, but we had a great time!

after all the hub-bub, we had a fun little photoshoot with Ava... but she was kind of tired. she was a good sport, though and we got some cute ones:

she loves the mirror!

new years upgrades

happy new year!!

we've gotten a few upgrades in our house...

much needed new fridge... thank you, Mom & Dad for an amazing Christmas present!

gabe's new computer desk, complete with dual monitors and new desktop.

rugs! i've wanted rugs since we moved in. took me a while to find exactly what i wanted.

BIG tv! it's a hand-be-down from my parents. it's perfect (and free!)

and since we got the big tv, we can move the extra one into the bedroom. :)

2012 is going to be a crazy year for the Medinas...  Our goal is to deliver a healthy baby girl and then not mess up her life.

she'll be here in 6 weeks (eek!)

sit'n sleep will beat anyone's advertised price or your mattress is freeeee!

you're killing me larry!!

gabe and i have been on a crummy mattress for a while. it was wonderful when we first got it, but that feeling didn't last long. saggy, creeky, flimsy thing. between the recent heat and my back's disagreement with the old thing, we decided we'd had enough and went mattress shopping.

mattress shopping is awkward... and gross. first, we went to Leed's (where Niel with the deal won't be beat...) The salesman was aggressive, loud, and argumentative. he started yelling at another couple about the deal they said they found, accusing them of lying. he definitely made me uncomfortable. so we mosied on over to Sit'n Sleep. much better selection, better prices, better salesmen. we landed on this beauty...

behold - a good night's sleep:

i have to say, it is so choice. if you have the means, i highly recommend you pick one up.

festive for fall

i'm having a fun time with halloween festivities! i had to constrain myself from buying the whole halloween sections of Target, Walmart, Jo-anns.... you name it. i also had to force myself to wait until October to decorate. i can't wait till we get closer to halloween so i can carve my pumpkins!
(paper cut-outs. $1.99 pack at Walmart - 2009)

(foam stickers. huge pack of them at Target for $3)

(plastic placemats - $1.50/each at Target. the pumpkin basket is a few years old...)

(big hairy spider!! $4.99 at Target)

(candy bucket - Target $2.50. made the treat bag last year.)

(jack-o-lantern candy dish - $2.50 @ Target.)

a few additions to the house...

here are some additions to the house...

#1 - the kitchen curtain:
it was quite the task finding a curtain that would go on this one little window! it's the only window in the house that doesn't have blinds...

#2 - New table + Chairs:

we bought this set from Target.com to replace the tiny round table. now we actually have room! plus it's pretty.

#3 - the Washer & Dryer:

aren't they BEAUTIFUL!! They're so shiny and new and they make our clothes look that way too! it is so AWESOME to not have to go to the laundromat or walk back and forth to the apartment complex's laundry room. Muchas Gracias, mom & dad!!

#4 - the Guest Room:

don't you want to come stay with us?? you're always welcome to!!

the little green house with the white picket fence

after much waiting and anticipation, please enjoy a virtual tour of our new house!

this is our beautiful new house...

if it had cheeks, I would pinch them, because it's so darn cute!!!

View as you come in the front door. This is our TV room:

Here is a look back at the TV room from the dining room:

Here is our bedroom:

and my color-coded closet (obsess much??):

Gabe's side is color-coded too, but it's kinda all one color! :)

Here is the dining room (that round table has been replaced by a newer/bigger rectangular one):

Here we have the kitchen:

and the bathroom:

and here's the computer room:

this is also where the washer/dryer will be set up

we LOVE our new house! it's so much better than the apartment. it's beautiful and big and perfect!

There is a guest room that is not included in the tour because it is not yet put together. Once we get the bed and everything in there, we I will take pictures.
Fun Facts about the house:
  • ORIGINALLY BUILT - 1912!! I'd like to declare it a historical landmark! :)
  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 1 Den (computer room)
  • 1 Bath
  • Marble Countertops in Kitchen
  • Separate Dining Room
  • Front Yard
  • Back Yard
  • Garage
  • It used to have a fireplace, but someone - somewhere along the way, it got enclosed
  • The ORIGINAL HOUSE may or may not have had a bathroom - the owner thinks there might have been an outhouse! sure glad they fixed that one!!
